July was a month of lurve in Arrow Students. Pastor Benjamin shared with us about relationships, what true love is, and dating tips! I love how Pastor reminded us (or revealed to us who never realized) that we are all created for love and that to desire love is NORMAL. The only love that truly satisfies is our Father’s love. And as we experience the love of God and become full to overflowing, then we can love others and the relationship we desire with another human being will be exceedingly abundantly above all we can hope for or imagine!

“Without Christ: the relationship from hell” (ok I’m kidding about the title). This was a skit performed by the I.M. theatre team. They illustrated searching for love in every possible place and finally searching for love in a relationship. Here you see them fighting over the love when one had decided their relationship didn’t satisfy. On another note, I like their outfits!

img_0536-large.JPG

Here’s Shawn from JC South who had just come from his army camp! Love the way he up-ed his cool factor with shades. Another simple accessory boys could do with is a brown belt haha!

img_0540-large.JPG

Gorgeous Weiyi from NTU dressed in a pretty ethnic print dress with embroidery. A simple black bolero is good to keep warm and not take away the attention from her gorgeous dress.

img_0539-large.JPG

Cool, collected Jonathan from the poly cluster layers his black and whites. It’s young and funky! Sleeves that are too long for guys (covering half the hands) can be rather sloppy, so I like how he rolled it slightly above the wrist, quite unconventional but it works.

These are just some of the good looking people in our ministry who are deeply and passionately in LOVE with our beloved Jesus!Well that’s all I have for now. See you at structured activity this week!

Hi there beloveds!

Last Saturday was the Arrow YSWA Career Seminar, and we had a RIGHTEOUS time yeah! We had Mr. Koh Ching Hong as our guest speaker and our beloved leaders Pastor Benjamin, Deacon Jeff, and Deacon Jeff to share with us nuggets of wisdom. It was truly an uplifting time for us as we were continually affirmed that Jesus is our Success!

Here are some of the glorious people at this event, evidently dressed for success?

sam-quek.jpg

Sam the Uber cool dude is decked out in Blue printed shirt matched with baggy black berms, nicely done bro, and to add a casual touch, you can never go wrong with a pair of white sneakers.

james.jpg

Here we see James dressed in Skinny jeans and a plain grey buttoned tee, very Brit feel especially with that fedora. Rock On!

anne.jpg

Anne wears a white spaghetti top with Technicolor prints! Prints are nicely done to give a candy sweet feel, matched with faded black jeans for ruggedness. Showing that she can be sweet but she ain’t fragile!

It was a really BLESSED event, can’t wait for the next one. :)

Sorry folks, I wasn’t able to capture any nice fashion photos this week. So I thought I’d share with you something I received from Pastor Benjamin’s message at the last Arrow.

Pastor Benjamin talked about Luke 15:25-31 (OBS) towards the end of his sermon. Being the older sibling, I could really relate to the older brother. His bitterness towards his family, his comparing… Man! Whenever I read this part, I can perfectly imagine the entire scene (Like Pastor Prince says, read the bible with imagination - it’s a whole lot of fun!). Read the rest of this entry »

So we (Arrow students) just came back from “Hitting the Mark” Camp 2008, and boy did we have an awesome time!It was such a glorious time with a lot of solid, rich food (spiritual of course!), fantastic fellowship, and the loving powerful presence of Daddy God. Read the rest of this entry »

Hi Beloveds! Here are some of the good lookers from our last Arrow meeting! As the Arrow YSWA wing comprises of young sophisticated working professionals, you can expect a more “smart casual” style fit for the office, but still fun enough to hangout in. Here we don’t “Dress to impress”, instead we let God’s glory take over and “Rest to impress”!

aaron-pose.jpg

One might think that checked shirts are for the older generation. But here, Aaron shows that checked shirts are indeed still IN! Matched with grey chinos and leather shoes, his style exudes a relaxed mood. Chillin in the Grace of God yea…..

diana.jpg

Staying cool in blue, that’s da way to go in the sweltering heat these days! Here Diana matches her blue Denim skirt with a blue frilled top. She wears it really well matching the different tones of blue and also reflective accessories just to give that water effect and that extra sparkle to catch ones eye.

Its exciting to see people changed from glory to glory in His presence! Our looks and fashion sense are set apart from the world( in a good way..haha). Till next Arrow service, stay Glorious beloveds! :)

Hi guys! I’m so excited as we start showcasing just a few of the gorgeous people and the style at Arrow! We hope you’ll enjoy this and get funky ideas to do stuff with what you have.

At last Arrow, the theme was Beach holidays. People celebrated because it was one of the easiest themes thus far. Most came in tee-shirts, berms and flip-flops. There were the famous Baywatch colours – red and yellow – on our I.M. team who were refereeing the soccer match, our MC, john p, decked out in his wetsuit, and a lot more tee-shirts, berms and flip-flops.

Fresh colours and strips…

This season loves bold, flowery prints, but sometimes it makes us young girls look too matured. I love Angela’s style and printed skirt, fashionable, fresh and young.

Kudos to the IM team for providing the girls with awesome flower hair pins!

arrow7june-012-large.jpg

I never thought of wearing all black for a day at the beach (of course we were indoors) but it offsets his yellow slippers quite nicely and the pink heart as well. The straw hat rocks!! (borrowed prop though!) :)

You might be surprised to find out there’s someone going around taking photos in Arrow! But don’t worry, don’t become self-conscious and don’t feel stressed about dressing up. Whenever I leave my house and I’m unsure whether my outfit for the day is pretty, I just remind myself that God is my glory. It’s amazing that it’s on these days when people tell me I look good!

May our glory not just come from that gorgeous top we’re wearing, our make-up being flawless, or our shoes matching our outfit perfectly. May our glory come from the beauty of Christ Jesus radiating out of us!

Well, next up for us Arrow Students is CAMP!!! Woohoooo!! See y’all there tomorrow!

With love,
Charis Yue

Beach Day!

Hey Beloveds!!  Wasn’t The Zone ‘08 just awesome?!  Here’s what Charis Yue, one of our Arrow leaders had to say…

“In the morning of the Zone, i felt this uncomfortable huge lump at the back of my throat. It hurt badly everytime i swallowed and somewhere during the praise and worship, i tasted abit of blood. There was a long musical pause in the music when suddenly Joel Houston started reading from Isaiah 53 ending with “By His stripes we are healed”. The song they sang next was Healer and I knew in my heart that Daddy God knew my pain and wanted to heal me. The healing anointing was strong in the place and after the concert, the lump was completely gone! Another girl in my caregroup was healed of back pains too during the song.

The presence of God was magnificent that night, healing not just physical pains and sicknesses but healing broken hearts and lives.  There was such a tangible touch of freedom and love. Youths came to know a Jesus different from their perceptions. Two girls I talked to realised that it wasn’t about whether they did their quiet time or loved God enough, but that God’s love for them that mattered. Chains were broken, lives were healed, eyes were opened and Christ was revealed…”

17 May Arrow (Students) Service

One of nature’s most extraordinary cats can still be found deep in the flooded marshlands of a place called Mombo, in Botswana’s Okavango Delta. An ultimate predator, nearly silent, at times invisible, but when one can get close enough, always strikingly beautiful. Within this harsh environment, the leopard continues to flourish. One day, under the watchful eyes of two humans, emerged one particular cat with a birthmark that distinguishes her from all others – and they nicknamed her Legadema or “Light from the Sky.”

When Legadema first wobbled her way into the sunlight at only eight days old, Dereck and Beverly Joubert, the award-winning husband-and-wife filmmakers and National Geographic Explorers-in-Residence, were there. Over the next three years, they captured a remarkably intimate and gripping story of survival in wild, unspoiled Africa.

Eye of the Leopard takes viewers on an enthralling journey deep into the rarely seen lives of leopards. It is a journey of birth, life and death as a mother leopard and her first surviving cub of six, fight off marauding baboons and elude scavenging hyenas in a constant struggle for survival. Documenting her experiences in incredible detail, the Jouberts took great pains not to interfere in the leopards’ wild existence. They tracked the early formative experiences that armed her for the future, and her mother’s deliberate stealth, evading detection by a gauntlet of predators that could claim her cub.

We watch as Legadema increasingly refines her hunting prowess and graduates from stalking lizards and squirrels to warthogs, impala and even dangerously aggressive baboons. One particularly poignant and unexpected chapter occurs as Legadema nears the cusp of adulthood, and kills a mother baboon only to find the young baby still clinging. To the Jouberts’ amazement, instead of killing the baby baboon, Legadema lies down protectively around it and even gently lifts it to safety at the approach of a scavenging hyena.

“It was as if nature had turned on its head completely,” says Dereck Joubert, a filmmaker who followed Legadema for three-and-a-half years in her natural habitat, the Okavango Delta of Botswana - the verdant flood plains known as Africa’s Garden of Eden.”

“She had killed the mother primate, but then found this live new-born on the ground. The little baboon called out, and we thought we were going to hear a major crunch and the leopard smacking its lips, but instead the baby baboon put its paws out and walked towards the young leopard.”

“Legadema paused for a moment, apparently not knowing what to do. Then she gently picked it up in her mouth, holding it by the scruff of its neck and carrying the infant up a tree to keep it safe.”

39 Pounds of Love is the inspirational and humorous non-fiction account of a remarkable man and a remarkable journey. At birth, Ami Ankilewitz was diagnosed with an extremely rare and often fatal form of muscular dystrophy, Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) that severely limits his physical growth and movement.A doctor told his mother Helena that he would not live beyond the age of six. She refused to believe him. On his 34th birthday in Tel Aviv, Israel, Ami announces that he wants to take a trip to America and fulfil some of his dreams: First, to travel across America in a van. Second, to ride a Harley Davidson motorcycle. And third, to find the doctor whose prediction of how long he would live turned out to be false.
Ami’s mother is very anxious that the arduous journey would have an adverse effect on his health. But her son, who weighs 39 pounds, has a fourth reason for taking the trip: he wants to get his mind off the fact that Christina, his pretty 21-year old Romanian caretaker, has left him after two years of looking after him. Ami, whose bodily motion is limited to a single figure on his left had, has tried to express what this relationship meant to him in a 3D animated film.
Accompanied by his best friend Asafa and film director Dani Menkin’s documentary crew, Ami arrives in Los Angeles to begin his journey. While visiting the Grand Canyon, Ami has trouble breathing and there is a minor medical emergency. They make a special trip to Texas where he reconciles with his brother Oscar who felt left out of his mother’s affection since she gave so much of her time and energy to Ami. Thanks to Asafa, she arrives for a family reunion. And after a little detective work, the team finds the sought after doctor living in Miami.
Today, Ami, who weighs only 39 pounds, works in Israel as a 3D animator and creates his art despite the fact that his bodily motion is limited to a single finger on his left hand and in doing so, continues to redefine notions of a “limited” life.

white shirt

I believe most of us have seen the Dynamo advertisement with the man in the white lab coat teaching us how to remove stains on clothes. At least some of us would have noticed the tall shelves stacked with bottles and bottles of detergent, each with their special “stain removing formula”. It seems that we have a fixation with stain removing and stains are definitely not removed with a wand in hand and sparkles in the air. Yet the Bible tells us that Jesus blood has washed us whiter than snow, restoring people who are full of the stain of sin to the pure whiteness of the robe of righteousness. Perhaps we could get a glimpse of how much it took for Jesus to take away our sins and give us righteousness when we think about how difficult it is for us to remove stains in everyday life.

Think about it, you could spill curry on your shirt unknowingly during lunch, brush past a sweaty man on the way back to class, sit on a mud pool while playing soccer. Because of that we have two to three changes of clothes in a day, making 730 changes of clothes in a year and 65,700 changes of clothes in 90 years. Think about how much it takes to wash that amount of clothes all in one time and make it as clean as it was before you wore it. It’ll take many washing machines, many days or perhaps some would say many mothers. On the cross, Jesus was punished for every single one of our sins. Can we even begin to imagine the intensity of the punishment or the agony of having His Father turn His back on Him? When you get that into perspective, you get the sheer magnitude of His love for us that restores us from the stain of sin to the whiteness of righteousness. Do not let the words “Jesus loves me” become just like anything you say. Feel the Father affirming, Jesus embracing and the Holy Spirit convicting when you say, “Jesus loves me.”

Hi all!

Ever found yourself in a desperate situation where you really needed to
believe that Abba will come through for you but somehow just couldn’t
find the FAITH?

“For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails
anything, but faith working THROUGH LOVE.” -Galatians 5:6

Here, in the Greek, ‘working’ actually means ‘activates, energises and
reassures’.

“And God has dealt to each one a measure of faith.” (Rom 12:3)  Whether you
feel it at the moment or not, you HAVE faith.

So how is that God-given faith activated - by knowing that God loves
you.

“By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us.” - 1 John
3:16

The answer therefore, is JESUS.

In love, Jesus took all our sins, even that of not having enough faith.

When you meditate on that overwhelming love, faith WILL be energised!
